I teach IB ESS and have spent the past seven years helping students make sense of the syllabus without overloading them. Most of my lessons centre on case studies, data response practice and IA planning. I’m especially strong on ecosystems, climate change and resource use, and I like students to leave each session with a clear task they can actually finish before the next one, not just a page of extra notes.

Hi, I’m an IB ESS tutor with a background in ecology and environmental policy. I usually work with students who feel the course is a bit vague at first, especially when it comes to evaluation questions. We spend a lot of time on real examples, command terms and paper technique. I also help with IA ideas, research design and tightening analysis so the final write-up sounds like the student’s own work.

I’ve taught IB ESS for 11 years, including several cohorts taking the final exams. My approach is fairly structured: syllabus review, past-paper questions, then targeted feedback on the bits that lose marks. I often support students with systems diagrams, energy flow, biodiversity and human population topics. I also review IA drafts, mainly focusing on research questions, data presentation and conclusion quality.

I tutor IB ESS online and tend to work best with students who like things explained plainly. Before tutoring, I worked on water quality and urban sustainability projects, so I use a lot of practical examples rather than just textbook definitions. Lessons usually mix content recap, short exam-style answers and IA support. I’m patient, but I will point out exactly where an answer needs more evidence.

My IB ESS lessons are built around how the mark schemes actually reward answers. I’ve worked with students aiming for 5s, 6s and 7s, and the gaps are often in wording rather than knowledge. I focus on evaluation, named examples and linking environmental systems to societies. IA support is available too, especially for sampling methods, variables and making graphs clear enough for assessment without overcomplicating them.
